circa 1860, with 30in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight for socket bayonet, folding ladder rear-sight, the base marked 'R.S. LAWRENCE PATENTED FEB 15TH 1859', iron receiver with vertical dropping breech, the left hand side marked 'C.SHARPS' PAT. SEPT. 18TH 1848', the right side 'R.S. LAWRENCE PAT APRIL 12TH 1859', lockplate with side-hammer, walnut straight-hand butt-stock inlet with a hinged steel patch-box to the right hand side, iron heel-plate, under-lever operation with locking catch to lower tang, three-quarter length fore-end with three iron barrel-bands, iron swivels, some surface corrosion and staining
