ENGLAND.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, automatic safety, triggers set for the left hand, right handed rolled-edge triggerguard, bold acanthus scroll engraving with beaded bordering, 14 1/2in. figured cast on stock, weight 6lb. 5oz., in a canvas and leather hammergun case with Atkin, Grant & Lang (incorporating Charles Hellis & Sons) 7, Bury Street trade label
Provenance: The vendor has kindly provided us with the following information:
"This 1946 Charles Hellis 12 bore, was a twenty-first birthday present to the vendor. He remembers being taken by his father to Messrs Grant and Lang in Bury Street, St James's, to have the stock fitted for his arm's length and inclined slightly for him to be able to fire from his left shoulder. The gun arrived a month or so later, a wonderful present still in superb condition with its case. Used for pheasant shooting in East Suffolk and latterly for an annual week of grouse shooting in Scotland."
