A SCARCE .451 PERCUSSION BREECH-LOADING SERVICE-PISTOL, MODEL 'PORTUGUESE CONTRACT MONKEYTAIL' serial no. 933,
dated for 1867, with 9in. barrel signed 'WHITWORTH PATENT', block and blade fore-sight, rear-sight notch to the breech-block hinge, the top of the block signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT' and marked with the triangular trademark, plain bar-action lock signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO' and with the triangle trademark bearing the date, walnut full-stock darkly varnished (some marking), brass furniture, the tail of the heel-plate marked 'R6' over 'F' over '1', loose lanyard ring at heel, and another to rear of side-cheek, chequered trigger-blade, brass nose-cap and no provision for clearing rod
Other Notes: According to collectors, currently only 68 of these pistols out of the original batch of 1000 are known to have survived
