A GOOD 60-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED TRAVELLING PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1845, with colour-hardened side-by-side 3 1/2in. barrels signed in script 'TOWL BOSTON', engraved band at muzzle, twin gold bands and scroll engraving at breech, moulded breeches with small fences and engraved plugs, border and acanthus scroll engraved boxlock action with engraved dolphin-headed side-hammers, finely chequered bag-shaped butt with vacant rectangular panel inlet with a silver oval escutcheon at wrist, guarded double triggers and captive iron rammer on its own rib, the whole retaining a remarkable amount of finish and colour and generally appearing little used

Other Notes: This is almost certainly Joseph Towl of Boston, Lincolnshire who operated between 1834-1868 in Bridge Street.
