circa 1862, with octagonal 7 1/2in. barrel, bead fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, the right hand side of the groove signed 'PETTENGILL'S PATENT 1856', the left side ' RAYMOND & ROBITAILLE, PATENTED 1858' (rubbed), solid iron frame and radiused action body (frosted), plain cylinder, smooth walnut grips, under-barrel articulated rammer and guarded trigger, the whole heavily stained with patches of cleaning
