A .577 PERCUSSION CAPPING BREECH-LOADING CARBINE, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'SAXON TERRY', serial no 2608,
circa 1860, similar in operation to a Calisher & Terry but with the loading port to the top of breech, blued 20in. barrel inlaid with white metal scrolls surrounding the letter 'D' at breech, moulded mount for the twin folding blade rear-sight with standing notch, lift up catch to rear allowing the bolt to turn 1/8 for withdrawal, moulded, colour hardened and inlaid nipple boss, the decoration repeated on the back-action lock also featuring a further inlay of a wild pig, engraved and inlaid hinged cap retainer combined safe mounted on a separate plate to the front of the lock, walnut full-stock with raised cheek-piece, colour hardened and inlaid furniture including bosses for the side nails and a moulded nosecap, much finish remaining throughout
