A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK BRASS-BARRELLED BLUNDERBUSS SIGNED 'LONDON', no visible serial number,
circa 1770, with 19in. barrel, flared cannon muzzle, moulded band at the change, the top of breech flat for sighting and engraved with a needle and teardrop, the space withing the needle signed 'LONDON', moulded band and engraving to breech together with the maker's mark 'I.B.' (James Barber), iron top-tang (cracked through), iron lock with pointed tail (badly corroded and pitted, top jaw absent), walnut handrail three-quarter stock, carved apron around the top-tang, oval brass escutcheon inscribed 'TIVERTON COLLECTION' at wrist with carved finials, broad toed brass heel-plate, the top spur engraved with a martial trophy, pierced brass martial trophy sideplate with a further aperture, possibly for saddle-ring, fore-end edges with extensive small repairs and losses at tip, replacement iron ramrod
