A RARE .52 FLINTLOCK BREECH-LOADING RIFLE, MODEL '1819 HALL U.S. BREECH-LOADING RIFLE', no visible serial number,
believed a second model and between 1826-1838, with 32 5/8in. barrel, the rifling stopping short 1 1/2in. from the muzzle, offset blade fore-sight, offset notch rear-sight, broad iron receiver swelling forwards of centre with a lift-up reverse loading breech operated via a short lever below the fore-end, offset central hammer, the top of breech-block with marks defaced but probably originally marked 'J.H. HALL, HARPERS FERRY, U.S., 18**', rain-proof pan, walnut three-quarter stock, iron furniture including raised lower tang, two pinned iron barrel-bands and double-band nose-cap, provision for under-barrel ramrod (missing), woodwork with old inlet repairs, iron surfaces stained.
