A BRITISH CAVALRY OFFICER'S 1796 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE WITH BLUE AND GILT BLADE, UNSIGNED,
almost certainly Solingen produced, with curving broad shallow blind fullered 33in. blade, the first two thirds decorated with etched floral designs, royal crests, trophies and depictions of cavalrymen all on a blue and gilt ground (much blue and gilt remaining), the remainder polished bright, iron 'P' shaped knuckle-bow, straight cross-guard with turned down quillion and twin broad langets, iron doveshead pommel with integral back-strap and fishskin bound grip-piece (wire binding absent), complete with its iron scabbard (scabbard distressed)
