A SCARCE PRESENTATION CASED LIMITED EDITION 'FREEDOM BOWIE KNIFE', serial no. 83,
of 500 produced, with highly polished 10in. bowie blade deeply etched on the left side with two scroll bordered panels bisected by a third panel with an American eagle in flight clutching furled flag, the left outer panel inscribed ''THE UNITED STATES, THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE, PROTECTED BY HER NOBLE AND BRAVE VOLUNTEERS, the right panel with 'AMERICANS ASK FOR NOTHING BUT WHAT IS RIGHT AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG', the forte with the 'COLT SINCE1836' stamp, the reverse plain except for the edition number near the hilt, broad heavy gilded boat-shaped cross-guard, gilded hilt and pommel fited with a finely chequered walnut grip-panel inlet with a U.S. shield on the left , the reverse panel plain and smooth, complete with its glass lidded wood display case, the glass etched with the Colt trademark, and 'FREEDOM BOWIE LIMITED EDITION' in the lower left corner and a facsimile of Samuel Colt's signature in the right, the interior of case with a close fitting compartment for the knife lined in blue flock, not supplied with a scabbard
