A FINE 16-BORE 'PATENT TREBLE WEDGE-FAST' FACILE PRINCEPS NON-EJECTOR, serial no. 34905,
30in. nitro reproved Greener trade mark fine damascus barrels, fine floral and acanthus scroll detailing at the breech ends, rib engraved 'TREBLE WEDGE FAST' and 'W.W. GREENER. HAYMARKET LONDON & ST. MARY'S SQUARE. BIRMINGHAM. WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS. 1875, 1877, 1878 &01879', some pitting, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and extra full choke, scroll-back treble-grip action with carved serpentine fences, manual side-safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork surrounding game scene vignettes of hound and fowl, the underside with two rabbits, the triggerguard with a hound on point, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, 14 7/8in. stock with horn inset drop points and ornate chequering borders, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb.

Provenance: The makers have kindly supplied the following information on the gun:

"W W Greener gun no. 34905 was started in January 1893 and finished on 16th June of the same year. It is a Facile Princeps non-ejector shotgun, a 16 bore with 30 inch 'Best Damascus' barrels and weighing 6 lbs. It is a 'Best' gun being one grade below the 'Royal' and cost 45 guineas when originally sold. It was engraved by Perry and sold through our London House so we do not have the name of the original owner."
