circa 1860, with re-browned twist iron 31in. barrels, the top-rib signed in gold 'V. CHR. SCHILLING IN SUHL', white metal dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, gold line and engraving at breech, engraved long top-tang, borderline, acanthus scroll and gamescene engraved back action locks, blued scroll engraved hammers with engraved swinging safes to the front, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, polished patchbox to right side of butt engraved with a borderline, scrolls and a standing stag, raised cheek-piece with a deeply carved panel of scrolls behind, iron heel-plate with serial number, moulded horn trigger-guard bow and tang, engraved iron ramrod throat and replacement wood ramrod
