Other Notes: William Bigelow worked for J. & J. Miller in Rochester, N.Y. until he later moved to California where he continued to make revolving arms. Also known as Billinghurst rifles, these unusual guns were originally patented by James Miller (of J. & J. Miller) in 1829. Most often encountered are plain finished rifles that can be chambered for anywhere between four and nine shots. It is widely believed that less than 25 of these combination arms were produced, and that this particular example was William Bigelow's personal arm.
