circa 1864, with blued 30in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the top of barrel marked 'SHARPS RIFLE MANUFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN.', the breech marked 'NEW MODEL 1863', plain receiver with vertical dropping standing breech, back-action lockplate with large external hammer, the lock marked 'R.S. LAWRENCE PAT APRIL 12th 1859' and 'C SHARPS PAT OCT 5th 1852', straight hand walnut butt-stock with semi crescent heel-plate, iron finger-lever, walnut three-quarter fore-end affixed with three iron barrel-bands and bayonet lug beneath muzzle; TOGETHER WITH a period brass hilted yataghan bladed sabre bayonet signed 'AMES MFG CO, CHICOPEE, MASS.' for the same rifle (no scabbard) (2)
