for 1805, with scratch-rifled twist iron 10in. octagonal barrels, the top-flats signed in gold 'MANTON LONDON', silver bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights, colour-hardened breech-blocks with inlaid gold bands, platinum lined touch-holes, border and trophy engraved top-tangs, flat border engraved locks with trophies engraved to the pointed tails, French cocks, rain-proof pans and rollers to the frizzen springs, walnut half-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, re-blacked trigger-guards, horn fore-end caps and ebony ramrods tipped in horn, one with worm end, the other plain; TOGETHER WITH their original mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in coarse green baize and containing a red morocco leather covered flask, loading rod, lozenge handled turn-screw with auxilliary touch-hole pricker mounted alongside blade, ball mould and other sundry cleaning items, John Manton parchment trade label to inside of lid
