A .690 FLINTLOCK SINGLE SHOT MUSKET, MODEL 'CHARLEVILLE 1777', no visible serial number,
circa 1800, with round 40 1/2in. barrel, octagonal breech-section stamped 'C.I.' followed with a scroll, solid top-tang, military style lock with St. Etienne Arsenal details (rubbed), brass pan, walnut three-quarter stock with distinctive dished cheek-rest, the left side of butt carved with 'C.I' within a border of four scrolls, brass furniture including finger-grooved trigger-guard tang, twin banded nose-cap with applied boat-shaped fore-sight, twin banded iron re-inforcing brace at mid fore-end (for the Mounted Dragoons?) and iron ramrod; TOGETHER WITH a period socket bayonet for the same musket (cleaned, no scabbard) (2)
