A GOOD YATAGHAN SWORD WITH WATERED BLADE,
circa 1860, with 24 1/2in. strongly patterned re-curving blade, narrow fullers for the full length of the back edge, both sides of the blade with panels of silver wire inlays, the left side encompassing two possibly Islamic inscriptions, cast and chased blade-mount joining the hilt, chizel-carved and embossed grip-straps with raised detail and applied decoration (strong traces of gilding), nickel-silver 'eared' grip-scales with engraved borders and applied detail, together with its black leather-covered wood scabbard with embossed white-metal throat, chape and edge-seam
