the 52in. flambé blade mid to late 16th century, deeply struck makers mark, two triangular guards forwards of the ricasso (old welded repair to blade), later, probably Victorian, large figure '8' iron cross-guard with long drooping quillions and flattened tips, each side with four applied iron spiral decorations, the circular side bars surrounding tri-armed details, swollen six-sided wooden grip with triple bun carving to the centre and later leather covering, original faceted spherical pommel (blade cleaned and with some isolated pitting
