A .577 (SNIDER) SINGLE-SHOT BREECH-LOADING SERVICE RIFLE, MODEL 'MKI 2-BAND SHORT RIFLE',
dated for 1860, with 30 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, hinged 'flip-open' breech-block with pull-back extractor, percussion-style border-lined lock signed 'ENFIELD' together with a 'VR' crown cypher and the date 1860, plain three-quarter walnut military style stock with iron furniture (heel-plate numbered '117' together with the letters 'RCR'), still retaining its original firing pin protector mounted on a chain forwards of the trigger-guard, bayonet lug to right hand side of muzzle, steel ramrod and later leather sling (woodwork cleaned, iron surfaces evenly patinated throughout)
