of post-war manufacture, probably Italian, with 7 1/2in. octagonal, sighted barrel (proved 2011), the top-flat signed in gold 'ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT. NEW YORK US AMERICA', gold lines to muzzle, the breech section covered with profuse American style scroll engraving, blued cylinder with gold banding and 'club' devices, the blued frame fully covered in American scroll engraving, left hand side of frame stamped 'COLTS PATENT', brass trigger-guard and grip straps engraved with floral panels, shell engraving behind hammer, one-piece walnut grip relief-carved with scrolled vines, no provision for shoulder-stock , the whole in fine order and appearing unused
