A FINE CASED 70-BORE SIX-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION PERCUSSION PEPPERBOX REVOLVER,
circa 1845, with 4 1/2in. case-hardened fluted barrel-block engraved with a band of foliage at the muzzles and numbered '1' to '6' at the breech-end, case-hardened border and scroll engraved action signed 'GOUGH & BOWEN', case-hardened scroll engraved central bar-hammer, finely chequered walnut butt, case-hardened butt-cap with hinged trap-cover engraved with foliage, silver escutcheon to rear of grip, blued border and scroll engraved trigger-guard, blued iron belt-hook, and much original finish throughout, Birmingham proof marks, in original fitted brass-cornered mahogany case lined in green baize with accessories including iron pincer-type bullet mould with one stem forming a ramrod, J.D. & S. brass-mounted copper three-way pistol-flask and brass ramrod, the exterior with shaped brass escutcheon.
