A 4-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING 'BALL' GUN, no visible serial no.
circa 1845, with heavy octagonal 32 1/2in. barrel, blade front-sight, twin folding, one standing leaf rear-sight, the mask of a big cat engraved at breech, the top-tang engraved with border-lines and martial trophys, platinum plug, slightly curved leaf-bordered lock plate signed 'TATHAM & EGG', (traces of colour), walnut half-stock with flat-point chequering to the wrist, oval escutcheon behind the top-tang, raised cheek-piece to the left hand side, spurred iron heel-plate, trigger-guard with chequered pistol-grip tang, chequered trigger blade, two take-down wedges, horn forend cap and substantial brass-tipped rammer (exposed iron surfaces lightly stained, old inlet repair forwards of lock) TOGETHER WITH a modern 4-bore bullet mould, wad punch, cleaning rod and brushes and four cast bullets
