A 14-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN,
converted from flintlock to pill-lock circa 1830 and subsequently to drum and nipple percussion circa 1845, with re-browned 32in. two-stage barrel, re-coloured breech-block with gold line and inlaid gold poincon with 'G. DAVIDSON, ALNWICK' in raised letters, border engraved slightly curved lock signed 'G. DAVIDSON', and retaining the pill-lock hinge (formed from original pan) and hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (some old filled repairs), rectangular silver escutcheon behind top-tang, iron furniture, trigger-guard with pistol-grip finger-bow and a period two-piece brass-mounted ramrod, possibly original to the gun
