A PAIR OF 15-BORE MIQUELET-LOCK CATALONIAN TRAVELLING PISTOLS,
circa 1780, with two-stage slightly swamped 5in. barrels, banded muzzles, gold inlaid Spanish makers stamp and silver inlaid quality marks to breech, small lockplates with ring-topped hammers and lozenge frizzens and pans, walnut full-stocks carved with rococco scrolls behind the top-tangs, silver rococco escutcheons to wrists, brass long-spurred butt-caps engraved with rococco scrolls and shells, and finished with a silver Romanesque mask to center, further silver Romanesque masks to the brass rococco engraved side-plate and trigger-guard, brass feathered decoration to ramrod throats, wooden brasss-tipped ramrods (one replaced), exposed iron surfaces lightly stained
