for 1879, 30in. black powder only bold damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98 NEW BOND ST. LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, Perkes patent barrel-cocking action with single lump and dolls-head extension, patent no. 1968 of 16th May 1878, incorporating H. Holland and W.T. Perkes patent automatic thumb slide safety, patent no. 134 of 11th January 1879, with gold 'COCK'D' detail, short offset toplever, engraved leaf fences, beaded border and scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the top of the standing breech engraved 'HOLLAND'S PATENT NO. 134', the action flats with patent use number 151 and engraved 'LIFT UP HAMMERS BEFORE PUTTING BARRELS INTO STOCK', triggers set for the left hand, brushed and reblued finish overall, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch, 13 3/4in. stock, slightly cast on and swept for the left shoulder, weight 6lb. 7oz.
