Product Details

W. W. GREENER
A SCARCE CASED MARTINI-ACTION 'GREENER'S LINE THROWING GUN', serial no. 6,
dated to 1956, take-down example, proofed for .38 Special Blank, 14.5GRs No.5 Cordite, 16 oz. PROJECTILE, manual safety lever, action engraved 'W. W. GREENER. MAKER. BIRMINGHAM. ENGLAND.' and 'GREENER'S LINE THROWING GUN.', in its wood case with two projectiles (one damaged), empty 'Greenerene' Hydrocarbon oil tin and two boxes of Greener 'Special Cartridges for Greener Light Harpoon Gun' blank cartridges

Provenance: The Greener Line Throwing Gun is an adaption of the ubiquitous Greener GP action. Virtually identical to the Greener Light Harpoon Gun, the wood projectiles supplied with the gun are designed for passing a line from ship to ship or ship to harbour. During WWII, examples were actively used to enable in-flight refuelling by aircraft, the projectile being modified with a grapnel and used to enmesh with a second grapnel attached to the end of a fuelling line trailing behind the 'tanker' aircraft
