A FINE CASED PAIR OF .600 PERCUSSION OFFICER'S PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1840, with browned twist 7in. octagonal smoothbore barrels signed on the top-flat 'E & W BOND, 45 CORNHILL, LONDON', squared colour-hardened patent breeches engraved with bands and scrolls to the top, further scroll engraving to the side of nipple boss, bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights to the front of the fully engraved top-tangs, border and scroll engraved bar-actions, colour hardened locks signed 'E & W BOND', slab-sided scroll engraved dolphin headed hammers, polished walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, white metal oval escutcheons to the wrists and barrel-key and captive iron pan-head ramrods, both pistols retaining the majority of their original colour and finish and appearing little used, in their manufacturer's oak storage case lined and compartmented in green baize, the lid with flush-fitting rectangular brass handle, the inside of lid with parchment trade label (fixed in the inverted position) and containing a Sykes three-way flask, ebony cleaning rod, nipple-key with pricker and a scissors ball mould, all probably original to these pistols and remaining in fine condition
