A CASED 48-BORE PERCUSSION FOUR-BARRELLED TURN-OVER PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1835, with 3 1/2in. barrel group, engraved band at muzzle, moulded side-ribs with bead fore-sights and forming sighting grooves where relevant, engraved false plugs, uni-directional turn-over locking on a ball detent, border and scroll engraved boxlock side-hammer action, the top with continuation of the carved sighting groove and signed in a banner 'TIPPING, LONDON', scroll engraved hammer sides with carved and engraved dolphin heads, finely chequered walnut butt with swollen gadrooned pommel bearing an engraved domed grip-cap, engraved trigger guard bow with central trapdoor and under-barrel nipple guards, traces of colour and finish throughout and complete with its original walnut storage case lined and compartmented in green baize and containing a ball mould with loading rod combination tool, a diminutive three-way flask (mainspring replaced) and a japanned cap-tin (some damage to inner case flange and some compartments loose)
