circa 1850, with blued octagonal 10 3/4in. rifled barrel, gold bands inlaid at breech and muzzle, the top-flat also signed in gilt 'LAROCHE FILS A LAVAL', dove-tailed fore-sight, scroll engraved breech-block with moulded and fenced snail, fully scroll engraved top-tang with standing notch rear-sight, borderline and scroll engraved hump-backed bar action lock signed below the base of the en-suite hammer 'LAROCHE FILS A LAVAL', dipped tail, figured walnut half-stock with carved and fluted grip, moulded iron engraved butt-cap, scroll engraved spurred trigger-guard with single set trigger and leaf carving to the fore-end tip, no provision for ramrod, Belgian proofs, much finish remaining
