A RARE EARLY GLAZED CARTRIDGE AND METALLIC AMMUNITION ADVERTISING BOARD,
pre 1888, with reeded wood frame measuring 26 1/4in. x 37 7/8in. with inner gilt border and a black bevelled margin behind the glass, the back-board comprising of a hand coloured lithographed print featuring various slogans such as 'MANUFACTURER'S OF CORDITE', 'SOLE MAKERS & PATENTEES OF THE "GROUSE" AND "PERFECT" "PERFECTLY GASTIGHT" CASES', 'CONTRACTORS TO H.M. ADMIRALTY & WAR DEPARTMENT', the centre of the board with an arched row of the various quality cartridge cases above an oval engraving of the Kynoch factory and flanked with full colour stands of flags, the lower half with further views of the factory separated by the Royal Coat of Arms above a comprehensive group of pistol ammunition and a selection of rifle bullets and caps, the base with 'G. KYNOCH & Co. LTD BIRMINGHAM'.

Provenance: George Kynoch founded the company G. Kynoch & Co. Ltd in Birmingham in 1862. Due to differences of opinion, he was voted off the board in 1888, and the company changed its name to simply 'Kynoch Ltd'. Some of the pistol rounds on this board have been updated almost certainly by the factory, such as 7.63mm Mauser and gummed labels applied over the originally supplied round details
