23 3/4in. unsighted nitro barrel engraved 'J. ROBERTS & SON, 53, ST. MARTINS LANE. LONDON. W.C.2. .270 WIN. CALIBRE', the receiver (with thumb cutout) mounted with quickly-detachable telescopic sight mounts and rings, tang safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, hinged floorplate with push button release, the receiver ring, flat-side bolt, recoil blocks and furniture engraved with stylised celtic ribbonwork, the floorplate with the calibre designation in scrolling banners, the sidewall engraved 'GEW 98', highly-figured pistolgrip stock (cracked at hand) with cheekpiece, raised comb, horn pistolgrip-cap, sling swivels, 14 1/4in. pull including 5/8in. rubber recoil pad, weight 8lb.
Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that the crack in the stock has been professionally attended to and that the rifle has been successfully used on stags in Scotland post repair
