A CASED SCARCE .31 PERCUSSION POCKET-REVOLVER, MODEL 'REMINGTON-BEALS 1ST MODEL', no visible serial number,
manufactured 1857-58, with octagonal 3 1/8in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'F. BEALS PATENT' over patents to 1857, the top-strap with traces only of signature, solid iron frame with external cylinder indexing pawl, smooth gutta-percha grip with moulded cap and white metal trigger-guard bow, slight traces of finish in sheltered areas, in a later amateur produced wood case lined and compartmented in green baize and also containing a period pocket flask (split) and a possibly original iron double cavity mould
