built to F. Prince's patent no. 386 of 21st February 1855, with 24in. browned two-stage round twist barrel rifled with five grooves, small block and blade fore-sight, small ladder rear-sight, the top of breech block scroll engraved, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved back-action lock signed 'REILLY & CO, LONDON' (rubbed, lock cleaned), scroll engraved hammer, figured walnut half-stock with chequered wrist, iron heel-plate with top-spur, traces of a serial number to lower tang, iron trigger-guard bow with bolt locking-catch, under-slung bolt operating within an 'L' shaped iron guide set in the fore-end wood and moulded iron nose-cap, missing front swivel mount from underside of barrel
