circa 1840, with heavy octagonal 33 3/4in. rifled barrel (some staining) signed on the top-flat 'W.P. MARSTON, MAKER, TORONTO', dove-tailed blade fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, top-tang with provision for peep-sight (absent), borderline and scroll engraved english style bar-action lock, walnut half-stock with 'Kentucky' form butt, chequered wrist, raised cheek-piece, brass patch box, crescent heel-plate and spurred lower tang, plain trigger, white metal barrel key escutcheons and fore-end cap and probable replacement brass-tipped ramrod
