built to F. Prince's patent no. 386 of 21st February 1855, with 26 3/4in. browned two-stage round twist barrel rifled with five grooves, the flat top to the plain breech signed 'MADE FOR H. & J. VINCENT, MELBOURNE, block and blade fore-sight, small ladder rear-sight, the top of breech block engraved 'PRINCE'S PATENT', borderline engraved top-tang, borderline engraved back-action lock signed 'ISAAC HOLLIS & SONS, MAKERS TO HER MAJESTYS WAR DEPARTMENT', scroll engraved hammer, walnut half-stock with chequered wrist, iron heel-plate with top-spur, iron trigger-guard bow with bolt locking-catch, under-slung bolt operating within an 'L' shaped iron guide set in the fore-end wood and moulded iron nose-cap
