A 140-BORE FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK MUFF-PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1820, with 1 3/8in. turn-off round barrel, engraved bands at muzzle and breech, Birmingham proofs, foliate detail engraved to breech, squared central hammer action with folding trigger and engraved with stands of flags centrally signed 'S. NOCK' on the left and 'LONDON' on the right, rainproof pan with twin rollers, sliding safe to the top-tang also locking pan and walnut slab-sided butt with oval white metal escutcheon at wrist (top jaw screw replaced)
