A GERMAN PRE WORLD WAR ONE ARTILLERY OFFICER'S SWORD,
circa 1890, with slightly curved narrow 30 1/2in. plated blade etched for the first half with scrolls and trophies within an arabesque border, broad fuller to both sides for the first three fifths of its length, makers mark at forte (obscured by the langet), cast and carved brass hilt with broad langets, one with crossed cannon the reverse with a vacant shield, lionshead turned down quillion, 'P' shaped knuckle-bow, wire bound ribbed sharkskin grip with lionshead pommel inset with red glass eyes, the backstrap, reinforcing ears and collar carved with oakleaves and complete with its black painted iron scabbard
