dated for 1870, 30in. round barrel with applied matted top-rib marked 'HENRY'S PATENT RIFLING', and 'RIFLE FOR No2 CASE', dove-tailed fore-sight, five folding leaf express rear sight (one leaf absent) with additional ladder, the action scroll engraved and signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT RIFLE, 170 NEW BOND ST, LONDON' on the left, iron underlever and trigger-block, chequered walnut straight-hand butt-stock with white metal initialled oval escutcheon inlet to underside, iron buttplate with trap, sling eyes, detachable chequered fore-end with ramrod finial, under-barrel rib with further thimble, possible original clearing rod, the whole lightly worn with losses to finish and some pitting
