circa 1835, with ratchet cut iron snail engraved with graduations from '1' through '20' and further engraved with borders, locking against a sprung catch, central hammer squared boxlock action with concealed automatic trigger, the body and supporting legs engraved with borders and acanthus scrolls, finely chequered bag-shaped walnut butt with escutcheon at wrist, the iron surfaces re-finished
