A RARE PAIR OF FLINTLOCK, ROUND-BODIED, CANNON-BARRELLED, TURN-OFF HOLSTER-PISTOLS, no visible serial number,
circa 1790, with tapering triple banded 4in. cannon-barrels (frozen), round scroll engraved bodies signed 'CLARKSON' in a banner on the right hand side and 'LONDON' in a banner on the left (rubbed), pedestal rain-proof pans, central hammers (one repaired at neck), and smooth walnut bag-shaped butts with swollen pommels (one pistol chipped around top-tang), and fitted with brass grotesque masks, rococo bordered escutcheons to the wrists and guarded triggers
