A GOOD CASED PAIR OF 18-BORE FLINTLOCK OFFICER'S-PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1800, with twist iron 8in. octagonal barrels, bead fore-sights, engraved bands at breech, gold-lined touch-holes, engraved top-tangs, borderline engraved bevel-edged locks with stepped and pointed tails signed forwards of the hammers 'HARTSHORN', sliding safes behind the hammers, rainproof pans, roller frizzens, walnut full-stocks with coarsely chequered bag-shaped butts, set-triggers, double roll-edged guards and twin plain barrel-keys, horn tipped wood ramrods, both pistols retaining traces of original colour and finish and in a retailer's oak case lined and compartmented in coarse green baize, parchment trade label inside lid for 'R. ESSEX, 224 STRAND, LONDON', the case tray containing a loading rod and scissors ball mould
