second quarter of the 18th century, the iron two-stage 23 1/2in. barrel deeply struck at breech with the Spanish maker's mark, possibly 'DOMINGO MAS, RIPOLL', moulded band at muzzle, solid top-tang with scroll engraving, plain miquelet style flintlock with broad exposed main and frizzen springs, ring-topped hammer, chequered walnut handrail full-stock folding downwards at the wrist released by a dome-headed button (small losses to wood at hinge), brass furniture including cap-style butt-plate, trigger-guard with vase finial and complex pierced side-nail escutcheons, provision for iron belt-hook and underbarrel ramrod, both absent
