A RARE 20-BORE FLINTLOCK TURN-OVER CARBINE, no visible serial number,
circa 1750, with two-stage 18in. barrel, the top-flats of both barrels marked 'LONDON', silver starburst fore-sights, traces of scroll engraving at the intersection and breech-end, the pans and frizzens mounted to the breeches in the 'Wender' style, engraved bands to the rotating joint, bevel edged pointed tail back-action lock signed 'BUNNEY' with engraved detail, stand of flags engraved to the sideplate, walnut 'banana' hand-rail butt-stock with engraved iron heel-plate, shell carved apron around the top-tang and silver circular escutcheon to the wrist, guarded trigger, the bow acting as release catch for turning over the barrels, full-length walnut fore-end between the barrels mounting the original horn-tipped ramrod (iron surfaces lightly worn with some loss to detail)
