A BRITISH OFFICER'S 1796 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE, UNSIGNED,
circa 1805, of typical form with 32 1/2in. curved blade widening at the tip, the blade engraved with floral motifs, trophies, figures on horseback and coats of arms (probably originally blue and gilt), 'P' shaped knuckle-bow with straight cross-guard and single turned down quillion, two broad langets, wire bound sharkskin grip and plain iron doves-head backstrap, complete with its iron scabbard with twin loose suspension rings (dark patchy staining)
