A 12-BORE 'ROYAL BREVIS' SELF-OPENING HAND-DETACHABLE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 33392,
for 1937, 28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the rib engraved 'Royal Brevis' in script and gold-inlaid '2' at the breech end, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, toplever gold-inlaid '2' and with peacock feather engraving to the thumbpiece, automatic safety gold-inlaid '2', hand-detachable lockplates, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguard, best bold Royal scroll engraving, the underside with 'ROYAL EJECTOR' in an elaborate cartouche, retaining some original colour-hardening, 15 1/4in. replacement stock (by another), weight 6lb. 6oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1937 as No.2 of a pair of 'Best quality 12-bore Royal Ejector Self-opening' guns with 28in. barrels. The order books initially have the name 'Karfe' entered for both guns, but these are crossed out and the No.1 gun entry overwritten with 'Hindley' and this gun overwritten 'Buxton'.
Previous correspondence between the vendor and Holland & Holland in 2002 list some refurbishments carried out by Holland & Holland, including a strip, clean and overhaul, new cross pin, rejointing and some replacement springs and pins
