commercially remanufactured from a pre-existing service rifle circa 1875, with blued tapering 22 1/4in. barrel, applied fore-sight, elevating tangent rear-sight on a moulded platform, octagonal breech and semi-octagonal receiver, colour-hardened rotating breech, with chequered thumb-piece and brushed bright top-tang, blued plain back-action lock with exposed side-hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist and with iron furniture including a shaped schnabel fore-end cap and filled clearing rod aperture
