A GOOD .577/450 MARTINI-HENRY MARK IV PATTERN 'A' RIFLE, SIGNED ENFIELD, no visible serial number,
dated 1886, with 32 1/4in. sighted barrel with two rows of proof-marks, receiver with good, clear crown over ' V.R. / ENFIELD / 1886', lock viewer's mark and rifle mark with offset 'V', small cocking indicator with Broad Arrow, Enfield roundel with First Class '1' below, Allahabad Arsenal roundel with Second Class '2' below and date of '11 / 1894' above, plugged original lever recess hole and front barrel band with an unscored 'E-M' all indicative of the Pattern A conversion from the abandoned Enfield-Martini project, good WD and inspection markings throughout, Farsi script on trigger-guard, correct clearing rod, crisp action, 48 3/4in. overall
