circa 1851, with 40in. tapered barrel rifled with four grooves, bayonet stud on underside of barrel, blade front-sight and fixed vee rear-sight, the breech struck with the serial number '3200', and dated 1851, together with two small inspection stamps, back-action lock engraved 'MRE NLE DE MUTZIG', regulation iron mounted full walnut stock with three spring retained barrel bands, the top band incorporating a nosecap, two piece trigger-guard with finger grips to the tang, the right butt with faint French Ordnance roundel with central 'Pope's' plug, some worm holes to stock, complete with sling swivels, an old brown leather sling, and ramrod
