A BOXED EARLY .22 WEBLEY & SCOTT PRE-WAR 'MKI STRAIGHT GRIP' AIR-PISTOL, serial no. 731,
circa 1925, with 7 1/8in. rifled barrel, early style of sliding breech-latch, the left face marked 'PATENTS APPLIED FOR', the breech of barrel not reduced in diameter, blued stepped air-chamber, the right hand side unmarked, the left with 'WEBLEY AIR PISTOL MKI' and 'WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD. BIRMINGHAM & LONDON', four pin trigger group without provision for trigger weight adjuster, rotating safe and smooth straight walnut grips with the Webley 'winged bullet' trademark medallion inlet into the left hand example, the whole with some refinishing and mild areas of shallow pitting; together with a first style box and spare leather washers (box stained and worn)
