A RARE .22 WEIHRAUCH 'HW35E GOLD EDITION' BREAK-BARREL AIR-RIFLE, serial no. 961678,
one of a small number produced circa 1983, with gilded 22in. sighted barrel, gilded air-chamber grooved for a telescopic sight, automatic safe to rear of air-chamber, walnut half-stock with rubber heel-plate and chequered and capped pistol-grip, fitted with swivels for sling, gilding thinned

Provenance: Originally, three of these HW35E air-rifles, each plated in 22k gold, were produced for the then directors of the UK Importers, Hull Cartridge Company. These rifles also bore a name-plate with the relevant director's name. The model given to Hugh Clarke was featured in Airgun World magazine and Hull Cartridge Co. were bombarded with enquiries from airgun enthusiasts asking whether they too could obtain one. Weihrauch subsequently made a short run of the rifles (and also of their HW77 model). It is believed this particular example was won as a prize from a shooting magazine competition
